A guide to patients after undergoing colorectal endoscopic polypectomy
1.Resume diet if there is no bloating or discomfort after the exam .
2.If signs of abdomen bloating, please change position to help bowel gas passage or apply antiflatulents around the umbilicus . eg: peppermint oil, green oil, white flower oil etc.
3.Avoid to take gas-forming food like milk , soybean milk as right away after procedure and also avoid overeating and greasy food.
4.If perianal pain due to frequent stool passage , you can apply vaseline petroleum jelly around anus or warm water sit bath.
5.If you received colorectal polypectomy, you will need to return to outpatient clinic for pathology report one week after the procedure.
6.Start anticoagulant as physician suggestion .
7.Avoid taking hard food and irritating food within one week after examination ; and also avoid to lift heavy objects , child-holding ,or participate in intense activities , you can only take a stroll.
8.Keep soft stool passage within one week after procedure , avoid constipation or forced defecation , you can have adequate water over 1500 cc per day.
9.If you received chromoendoscopy (Eg. methylene blue) , you may experience blue urine or stool passage within 2 days after procedure , So, don’t be worry .
10.You might experience some bloody stool during normal sign after examination
However, if you have severe abdomen pain , increasing bleeding amount ,pale face , drop blood pressure or tachycardia , please go to the Emergency Room for treatment as soon as possible.
